DeviantART's Influence on Me

Social sites do funny things to you. They let you meet other people you can't see, but interact with. People who either share the same interests or have other things to share, bully you and use you while taking a part of yourself, and give you a valuable lesson so you'll stand stronger once you get back up. DeviantART is that kind of social site.

Because DeviantART is a social site of sorts, sometimes their slogan "Where Art Meets Application" loses it''s meaning for a moment. Case in point: A sensible, skillful Artist who's classified as a Professional would give a tip to other artists, and before they know it, they're either getting bashed for being an uppity douche for mocking Wannabe-artists, or praised by said Wannabe-artists for having a point and respecting it. (Example: the Bryan Lee O'Malley Journal incident.) When things like that happen, some members start to think, "Screw this, if this is what DeviantART is, just a bunch of whiny posers who do nothing but chat, talentless thieves, and attention whores, then it's not worth my time and effort anymore! I'm outta here!" This is where the Meme comes in.

This meme was created not only as a last mark on my old account, but also a way to help remind those Senior Members (with or without the ` on the devname.) of their time spent on DeviantART was not a fruitless one. Because no matter your intentions of being here, from learning new ways to create to meeting fellow artists to just plain trolling; you sometimes come to love something, you usually wind up losing something, and more importantly, you always end up learning something.

Link the filled one back here once you're done! Happy reminiscing! :)
